DISTRICT COACH PACKAGE

Develop a training site in your school district. Through this model school districts increase their capacity to train other staff within the district on effective strategies to work with students with autism. Consultants for STAR Autism Support work with target classroom(s) to develop a model training site. This site is developed through a sequence of training activities designed to train key staff to implement the program and then train other school district staff. This model has been successfully implemented in many school districts. The following are some possible benefits of developing a school district training site:

• A training site will allow others to see an example of a site that is implementing appropriate methods with children with autism

• Staff in the model training site are able to train others

• A resource to your school district to offer continuous training of new staff

• A team capable of assessing student strengths and needs
