A caregiver’s guide to distance learning with SOLS

Your child’s educational experience through distance learning will be a combination of efforts between you and your child’s teacher using the SOLS (STAR Online Learning System) curriculum. This page provides an overview of what to expect and how to support your child’s sessions at home.

How SOLS works at home

Each session blends real-time teaching with at-home activities you can reinforce throughout the day.

Real-time sessions

Your child connects to a trained instructor for live instruction. Sessions are individual or small-group and follow the same IEP goals as in-class learning.

Supplemental activities

Between sessions, you’ll have at-home activities and independent work tasks that build on what was taught. These are designed to fit naturally into your day.

Caregiver coaching

Built-in caregiver coaching gives you practical strategies for supporting your child during routines like mealtime, transitions, and play.
