STAR Remote Learning WorkshopSTAR Online Learning System (SOLS) is designed to allow your school district to provide access to all students through remote learning opportunities. Through teacher facing, evidence-based lesson plans and a scope and sequence that provides scaffolded learning opportunities, teachers can provide their students individualized learning opportunities. The focus of the instruction uses the evidence-based practices appropriate for students with autism to teach skills in critical areas. This comprehensive workshop provides participants with detailed examples and practice activities on how to implement the evidence-based practices identified in the National Standards Report (2009) remotely using SOLS. | 3-PART SERIES |
SOLS Overview SessionThis session will cover an overview of the STAR Online Learning System (SOLS) which is designed to allow school districts to provide access to all students through remote learning opportunities. Through teacher facing, evidence-based lesson plans and a scope and sequence that provides scaffolded learning opportunities, teachers can provide their students individualized learning opportunities. | MINI TRAINING |
2-Day STAR Comprehensive WorkshopsThis comprehensive two-day workshop provides participants with detailed examples and practice activities on how to implement the evidence-based practices identified in the National Standards Report (2009). The STAR Program (Arick, Loos, Falco and Krug, 2015), a research-based curriculum is used to provide examples. Appropriate content connected to the common core curriculum is presented and detailed information on the three evidenced-based instructional methods of discrete trial training, pivotal response training and teaching through functional routines are shared. Participants will learn how to implement these strategies through structured lesson plans and a curriculum scope and sequence.

SOLS: Coaching the CaregiverCaregivers are vital partners in education, especially during remote learning opportunities. Research has shown that when teachers and families work together to create a plan for instruction, it results in positive learning outcomes for students. Whether students are engaged in hybrid learning or remote learning, the goal is to provide a seamless transition between instruction at home and instruction at school. This caregiver training provides information on supporting students learning from home using simple and effective evidence-based instructional strategies.
Paraprofessional Trainings SeriesThis workshop series provides paraprofessionals with key strategies and a demonstration of implementing lessons and routines found in the Links Curriculum for middle and secondary students. Participants will also learn how to use basic behavior principles to assess student’s challenging behaviors, identify appropriate interventions that match assessment results, and determine whether an intervention is working. | Part 1: Discrete Trial TrainingPart 2: Pivotal Response TrainingPart 3: Functional Routines |
Early Childhood Learning WorkshopThis workshop will provide preschool staff, childcare staff and quality first coaches with a greater understanding of working with children with autism spectrum disorders. Topics discussed will include learning characteristics, behavioral strategies and simple activities to encourage social and language skill development. This workshop will provide specific examples of evidence-based practices that can be implemented immediately in the childcare and preschool setting. | 3-PART SERIES |
Administrator TrainingsThis session provides administrators with an overview on how to implement the evidence-based practices identified in the National Standards Report (2009) for students with ASD in both special and general education classrooms. Participants will receive extensive handouts and information on what to look for at both the classroom and student level to ensure positive outcomes for students with ASD. Information on classroom environmental arrangement, instructional strategies and use of positive behavior interventions and supports will be shared. | MINI TRAINING |
Using SOLS Beyond Distance LearningThis training provides a comprehensive approach to transitioning students from remote learning to in-person learning using data to drive instructional decisions. We explore tools in the STAR Online Learning System (SOLS) and STAR Program, which is primarily used for in-person learning. Both tools are evidence-based, scaffolded curricula for primary and secondary students with autism and other developmental disabilities. Strategies and tools to create seamless instruction regardless of settings will be explored. Participants will be provided with examples of assessments, data collection tools, progress monitoring systems, schedules and classroom maps.
Aligning IEP Goals to SOLS WorkshopThis workshop provides teachers and case managers with strategies to align IEP goals with content from the STAR Online Learning System (SOLS). Participants will learn how to use assessment data to help develop an IEP, create REELs that meet the IEP goal needs, and collect progress data to be used during progress report time.
Functional Routine Data-Based Decision Making WorkshopThis training will provide you with techniques on how to use the data collected from functional routines to make decisions about: what skills to teach the student, how to change the antecedent and consequences. and when to change your cue levels.
