STAR Program Quick Overview

These mini-videos provide a very brief overview of the STAR Program Curriculum.  Intended primarily for marketing purposes, these videos provided a general understanding of the curriculum and research. 

STAR Lesson Plan Implementation Videos

Each lesson plan found in the STAR Program has a corresponding video series to provide an introduction to the lesson and examples of implementation.  For staff who are already familiar with the curriculum and implementing instruction daily, these resources are an invaluable tool.

Introduction to the STAR Program 

This webinar covers the foundational concepts in the STAR program. An overview of the strategies of Discrete Trial, Pivotal Response Training, and Functional Routines will be provided as well as data collection and how to get started with your students. This webinar is appropriate for new users as well as those that are needing a refresher on the evidence-based teaching strategies included in the STAR Program.  


The STAR Learning Profile

This webinar provides detailed information about the STAR learning profile. The STAR learning profile is a curriculum-based assessment and progress monitoring tool. Key concepts in this webinar include how to fill out the learning profile, identifying lessons to teach and progress monitoring tools. This webinar is appropriate for anyone interested in getting started with the STAR program.

Using Tools to Create Effective IEPs

This webinar provides educators with strategies and tools to write effective IEP goals aligned to skills taught in STAR, Links, or SOLS. The tools provided will help educators write meaningful IEP goals and monitor progress efficiently. 

Putting it All Together 

This webinar provides an overview of how to get started with the STAR Program. A review of using the curriculum-based assessment, setting up the environment, and using the tools provided in the STAR Program will be provided.

Teaching Skills Through Functional Routines

This session will provide a discussion of the instructional strategies that can be used to pre-teach skills needed for students to successfully participate in classroom routines. Participants will review how prompting and reinforcement can support independence during routines, identify environmental and visual supports to prepare routine areas, and learn how to analyze data and use tools to make instructional decisions.

Teaching Skills Through Functional Academics 

Thriving in a Social World (Elementary)

Children with autism and other developmental disabilities benefit from learning and practicing specific skills in order to thrive in a social world. This training highlights important social and emotional learning (SEL) skills such as controlling impulses, identifying and interpreting emotions, and self-monitoring behaviors during daily routines.

STAR Independent Work Supports for Students and Teachers

This session provides practical tools to help educators set-up and implement Independent Workstations (IWS). IWS should include activities that are motivating and include skills that students have recently acquired in core curricular areas. Participants will see video examples and explore leveled materials provided on the STAR Media Center in English Language Arts, Math, and Fine Motor Skills.

Transition Planning for Elementary Students

This session provides participants with strategies and available resources to plan, coordinate, and deliver transition services for Elementary students. Assessment of student strengths and interests and classroom-based community simulation instruction will be the focus of this presentation.
