STAR Fidelity of Implementation (DT)

This session review the key components of using DT to teach students new skills using tools from the STAR Program. Participants will review lesson plans, Intro Procedures, and data collection procedures. Video examples and advanced discussion of the error correction procedure and Reinforced Learning Trials (RLT) will be provided.

Basic Behavior Principles: Teaching Secondary Students What “To Do” for Paraprofessionals 6-12th+

Participants will learn how to effectively use behavioral principles to increase desired behaviors. This session defines commonly used behavioral terms and provides paraprofessionals with practical tools to decrease behaviors perceived as challenging in the classroom.

Links Curriculum Overview (Getting Started) 6-12th+

This session provides participants with information on how to implement evidence-based practices for secondary students using the Links Curriculum (Arick, Hoffman and Magee-Arick, 2012). Participants will learn to use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to teach new skills, including discrete trial training. The process for tracking student progress and generating reports for data-based decision making will covered.

Links Curriculum Advanced 6-12th+

This session provides participants with a review of the key strategies used in the Links curriculum (Arick, Hoffman and Magee-Arick, 2012) and a demonstration of new features and classroom tools added to Links that will assist teachers with the implementation of evidence-based practices for middle and secondary students.

Connecting Links Lessons and Routines to Support Students During Puberty and Beyond 6-12th+

This training will provide teachers with information on how to use Links Lessons and Routines to support students as they experience the challenges and changes during puberty. This training will enhance educator understanding of what sexuality education content is important to teach and how to teach such content. Examples of easy to use, accessible curricula and materials will be shared.

Communication Differences in Students with Autism: Teaching Functional Communication

Participants will learn how to identify functional communication strategies to use with students in the SOLS, STAR and Links programs that will benefit students with expressive and receptive language impairments students with ASD sometimes have slow language development, do not learn to talk, have difficulty with speech (i.e. echolalia and voice tone), and/or struggle with comprehension. Difficulties in receptive language may cause child to appear like they’re not listening or ignoring directions.

Using Tools to Create Effective IEPs

One of the most crucial tools in a student’s school experience is their individualized education program (IEP). An effective IEP provides a blueprint for instruction and gets caregivers and educators on the same page. In this workshop, we will explore tools from the STAR and Links Systems that can be used to identify present levels, generate IEP goals, collect data and monitor progress. Participants will be provided with sample IEP goals and alignment tools available for STAR, Links, and SOLS.

STAR Program Set-Up and Program Planning K-8

This session provides participants with information on how to implement evidence-based practices for primary students using Applied Behavioral Analysis Strategies and evidenced based practices with their primary students. The ABC's of behavior will be discussed and strategies to increase appropriate behavior and decrease challenging behavior in the classroom. Participants will be introduced to many features and resources to assist in program planning for students.

STAR Program Advanced Strategies for Teaching Functional Routines

Thi session provides a review of teaching functional routines used in the STAR Program and will be discussed to support students using simple and effective evidence-based instructional strategies.

Basic Behavior Princples: Teaching Secondary Students What "To Do" for Paraprofessionals

This session explains the benefits of understanding a child’s communication to address challenging behaviors.
