Our organization represents its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) via internal practices and external communications. We seek opportunities to learn from those with lived experiences different than our own, including those with disabilities. Our Advisory Panel and Focus Group provide opportunities for us to receive direct feedback from the community and our stakeholders, including educators and neurodivergent individuals.

DEI Values

STAR Autism Support is committed to the ongoing work of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). This commitment is also foundational to our company culture. Our vision of equity includes a continuous commitment to becoming an anti-racist, multicultural organization. Our DEI Committee is a space for employees to consider the broad challenges related to equity and social justice, critically investigate our own understanding and advocacy of DEI values, and prioritize our goals for improving equity and inclusion for the people we serve. 

DEI Advisory Panel

Our Advisory Panel consists of stakeholders outside of the organization, including neurodivergent individuals, caregivers, and educators, as well as SAS employees. The panel provides feedback and guidance to ensure our products and services align with the best interests of the people we serve.

DEI Focus Group

Focus group members are educators that work with students daily and use STAR and/or Links materials in their classrooms. The purpose of the focus group is to gather specific and detailed feedback on specific STAR products, including usability and functional use in a classroom, diverse representation, and student engagement, in order to enhance our existing and newly developed curriculum materials.

External Communications

We strive to represent our DEI values in our external communications, including marketing, newsletters, and social media.

STAR Autism Support is continuously working to improve inclusivity and representation in our products to ensure all students, staff, and educators can identify with our materials. Additionally, we are always looking for ways to move our growth, from product to practice.
